Roy H. Wagner, a cinematographer with half a century of experience, was invited to re-shoot several iconic scenes from the famous horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Warriors of Dream. Almost 30 years ago, he shot them on a professional camera with 35mm film, and today he has done all the work using only the iPhone 11 Pro smartphone. This is a clear demonstration of how far technology has gone.
The video was created by the team at Video Village, an online filmmaker education center, as a kind of Halloween gift. And at the same time it played the role of a test - is it possible, with a minimal set of modern equipment, to create a film that makes no less vivid impressions than old hits? To shoot a video not "based on", but to recreate the very scenes as accurately as possible?
Looking ahead, they succeeded. On a much more modest budget, with a lot more speed, using the iPhone 11 Pro as the main tool. The skill of Roy H. Wagner himself, as the author of the original scenes, played an important role. Who, if not him, understand all the difference in technologies of two different eras and apply it in business? FiLMiC Pro was used for shooting and DaVinci Resolve for editing.
