Frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" (project "22350")

Project 22350 frigates are fundamentally new warships. The first and so far the only combat ship of this class is the frigate "Admiral Gorshkov", which descended from the stocks of the "Severnaya Verf" in autumn 2010. Today, when the Russian Navy is mostly armed with obsolete combat ships, the construction of ships of the promising project "22350" is the primary task of the Russian shipbuilding industry. The use of Admiral Gorshkov-class missile combat ships in the Black Sea is especially important, where they must solve assigned combat missions within the competence of the Black Sea Fleet.

New frigate features

The ships, built according to the project "22350", can carry out combat duty in the near and far sea zone and are capable of solving assigned tasks in the water area of the World Ocean. With a displacement of the ship of 4, 5 thousand tons, its length reaches 130 meters with a maximum width at the level of the main deck of 16 meters. The cruising range of the new frigate is over 4 thousand nautical miles. The deck has a separate platform for the Ka-28 multipurpose helicopters.

Unlike most Russian warships launched after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Admiral Gorshkov has deck superstructures and a command cabin built using stealth technologies.

Airborne Armament

There is very little information in the general press about the actual armament of the frigate "Admiral Gorshkov". From scattered sources, one can find out that the main group of military weapons is represented by a complex of 16 Mosquito anti-ship missiles (the Caliber-NK family - according to the NATO codification “Sizzler” - “Ashbringer”). The main gun mount has a caliber of 130 millimeters and is capable of firing at a rate of fire of up to 30 rounds per minute.

Anti-submarine protection

To defend against enemy submarines, the Medvedka-2 missile system is used, which ensures the launch of anti-ship missiles from vertical silo launchers along a mortar trajectory. Tracking the underwater situation and detecting deep-water targets is provided by the Vignette-M hydroacoustic equipment (a modified version of the Zarya-M complex). The use of modified sonar equipment makes it possible to detect enemy submarines and torpedoes fired by them at a distance of 60.0 kilometers.

One Ka-27/28 helicopter permanently based on the frigate is used to detect enemy submarines.

Means of defense against enemy attack aircraft

In the bow of the frigate there are eight modules of the Redut anti-aircraft missile system. Each of the modules includes eight anti-aircraft missile launchers. Two anti-aircraft artillery mounts "Broadsword / Palma" are installed near the helipad, designed to combat high-precision enemy weapons.

Where is the frigate now?

Information about where the frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" is now, apparently, constitutes a military secret. According to some reports, it is known that he passed the full range of State tests and on November 19, 2015 was supposed to return to Severodvinsk. At the end of May 2015, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on the battleship. According to information that appeared in the open press, at the beginning of November this year, the frigate's team successfully carried out artillery fire in the waters of the White Sea.
