The armament of the Russian aerospace defense forces continues to receive samples of new technology. The next generation "Niobium" radar will be commissioned in the near future.
The birthplace of the new radar station is Nizhny Novgorod. The project of the station under the code 55ZH6UM was developed by the team of the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Radio Engineering and embodied in metal at the Nizhny Novgorod Machine-Building Plant. The Niobium radar is a continuation and development of the Sky-U family of radar stations.
The new radar is capable of detecting a wide variety of targets - from aircraft and helicopters to ballistic missile units at ranges from 10 to 600 km at an altitude of up to 80 km. The speed of the tracked targets can reach 8000 km / h. At the same time, there are no restrictions on azimuth. So, for example, a target with an effective reflective surface of 1 square meter flying at an altitude of 30 km will be detected at a distance of 430 km.
The equipping of the aerospace defense forces of Russia with modern radars does not end there. The next step is the receipt of new samples of such military equipment of various modifications.
