The Indian government has awarded dolphins the status of "non-human." Thus, India became the first country to recognize the unique intelligence and self-understanding of representatives of the order of aquatic mammals - cetaceans.
The decision was announced by the head of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of India, which also banned performances using captive dolphins - in dolphinariums, aquariums, aquariums, etc. Dolphins "should have their own special rights, " according to the ministry.
Dolphins are highly intelligent mammals with a highly developed social organization. According to recent studies, dolphins refer to each other by name and can memorize unique names - sounds made by "old friends" and heard by them only once 20 years ago.
Before they turn one year old, dolphins choose their own unique names, which are a series of complex sound signals. From this point on, all other dolphins of the same social group use the personal name of each when referring to each other.
Dolphins use complex grammatical communication
Previous research has shown that dolphins have a human-like self-awareness and involvement in complex systems of communication with other dolphins through the structure of grammatical sentences. Yes, dolphins have their own language, just like humans (see Dolphin Communication Project).
Below is an excerpt from a research paper on dolphin communication using the example of a dolphin named Eyck:
... the relation of the argument role to word order was an important part of the grammar concepts of the Eick language, which largely presupposes knowledge of the argument number. Overall, this series of results underscores Eick's clear understanding of the language she learned ... required an understanding of grammatical and semantic relations and pragmatic issues arising from the relationship between the argument role and syntactic position.
In other words, Eyck is grammatically smarter than many adults, since many people can no longer single out meaningful provisions of the language, being only "subjects of hypnosis" who can only put ticks in voting ballots and live on fast food and energy drinks.
