Coffee on an empty stomach can do more harm than good.
The first thing many of us are used to doing in the morning is drinking coffee. Many even believe that morning coffee is the best way to invigorate.
Scientists have long found that this drink has many benefits. However, it is equally important to choose the right time for coffee.
You will be surprised to know that coffee in the morning, especially on an empty stomach, is a very bad idea.
Why? There are several reasons for this.
1. Stomach problems
Our stomach contains hydrochloric acid, which is essential for the digestion of food. Coffee over-stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid, which in the absence of food can harm the stomach walls.

Again, decaf coffee has the same effect.
In addition, caffeine is known to speed up the elimination of fluids from the body through the kidneys, which can make you more likely to go to the toilet. This does not give your kidneys enough time to absorb calcium, magnesium, zinc, and other important minerals.
Magnesium deficiency is considered especially dangerous, which is associated with many diseases such as anxiety and depression, asthma, blood clots, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, kidney disease, chronic fatigue, migraine, infertility, osteoporosis and even tooth decay.
3. Anxiety and depression
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can cause mood swings, irritability, depression, and anxiety. This happens for several reasons:
Caffeine interferes with the production of serotonin, the hormone of joy and peace
It increases levels of the stress hormone cortisol, epinephrine and norepinephrine.
It also affects levels of another important substance, gamma-aminobutyric acid, which soothes and reduces stress.
It promotes the elimination of B vitamins and interferes with the absorption of what is left. B vitamins play an important role in mood regulation, relaxation and stress reduction.
All this makes you nervous, fearful and weak.
Coffee on an empty stomach can increase the excretion of water from the body, which can lead to dehydration.
Interestingly, most people react to dehydration by drinking another cup of coffee, and this only aggravates the condition.
5. Loss of appetite
If you are used to drinking coffee in the morning, but do not eat any food, you may lose your appetite.
This effect of coffee is well known, and this is one of the reasons why it is often used for weight loss.
And while coffee is effective at suppressing your appetite at certain times of the day, you shouldn't ignore breakfast. Skipping your first meal can help you gain weight in an effort to replenish nutrient deficiencies in the afternoon.
Experts recommend drinking coffee after eating solid foods.
